Maloney Speaks to Packed Room at ASA 2011 Appraiser's Conference

Dave Maloney

WASHINGTON, DC (Aug. 17, 2011) -- Certified appraiser and veteran appraisal course writer, author and instructor David J. Maloney, Jr., managing partner at Appraisal Course Associates, recently spoke to a standing-room only group of personal property and gems and jewelry appraisers during the 75th ASA International Appraisers Conference held at the JW Marriott Hotel in downtown Washington, DC held at the JW Marriott Hotel in downtown Washington, DC Aug 14-17, 2011.

Making use of a cutting-edge, mind-mapping presentation technique which greatly enhances understandability as well as knowledge-retention, Maloney focused on the differences in USPAP obligations faced by the appraiser when performing various types of appraisal practice as an appraiser as opposed to other valuation services performed in a role other than an appraiser, such as while acting as a dealer, auctioneer or estate liquidator.

Maloney also covered in detail the several steps of USPAP's Appraisal Process which guide the appraiser in the development of an opinion of value as well as in communicating those opinions to the client by means of the appraisal report.

Information required to be in reports as well as the sources that drive that content were also addressed as was sample wording for the many elements of information required to be in a USPAP-compliant appraisal report.
