ACA Online USPAP Update Course (2014 version)

This USPAP update course is designed to aid appraisers remain current in their knowledge of USPAP through the convenience of home study which avoids the need to suffer the expenses and inconveniences associated with having to travel to an on-site offering. The entire course intentionally follows the instructional material developed by The Appraisal Foundation as published in the 2014-2014 edition of its 7-hour National USPAP Update Course Student Manual, but from a personal property appraiser's perspective as developed by your certified USPAP instructor, Bill Novotny.

The goal of ACA's Online USPAP Update Course (2014 version) is to make the appraiser aware of changes that were incorporated into the 2014-2015 edition of USPAP while at the same time reviewing important, often misunderstood USPAP issues that are frequently encountered in daily appraisal practice.

This online course is designed with the personal property appraiser in mind by making use of many personal property related real world scenarios as well as a case study. The course makes use of ACA’s hypothetical appraiser, John Morgan, who is an experienced generalist personal property appraiser striving to understand and comply with his USPAP obligations. Through John’s appraisal challenges, the student will better understand USPAP’s Appraisal Process and how USPAP applies to frequently-encountered appraisal problems.

While ideal for the personal property appraiser, this course is not appropriate for real property appraisers as it does not meet state licensing or certification requirements for real property appraisers. Real property appraisers who need an update course for licensing, certification or professional society credentialing purposes should attend a USPAP Update course that has been approved by their state licensing regulatory agency.

This course is intended to meet the USPAP-related continuing education requirements imposed by professional personal property appraisal organizations. Students are cautioned to check with their appraisal organizations to confirm that it fulfills their requirements. The course developers are confident that this online course is equivalent to the 7-hour National USPAP Update Course and welcomes input from appraisal professionals.
