USPAP Exam Retake Program (ERP)As a provider of educational courses for the personal property appraiser, we recognize the importance of appraisers successfully completing the 15-hour National USPAP Course. Doing so not only helps you maintain your level of designation within your appraisal society, but it also helps to provide you with the confidence and ability to perform appraisals in full compliance with currently recognized standards. On occasion, however, students of the National USPAP Course are unable to pass the final course exam on their first attempt. For the convenience of such students regardless of societal affiliation, the ACA has now established a USPAP Exam Retake Program (ERP), and we welcome participation by personal property appraisers who have the need to retake the 15-hour National USPAP Course exam. The ERP is also open to real estate appraises who have already attended a 15-hour National USPAP Course taught by an AQB Real Property Certified National USPAP Course Instructor. Like all our USPAP Course offerings, the ERP is administered by AQB-certified National USPAP Course Instructor William M. Novotny, ISA AM, GCA in accordance with the administrative procedures established by The Appraisal Foundation's Appraiser Qualifications Board and in accordance with the student's societal or course-provider requirements. The ERP provides three options for students who require retesting with the alternative USPAP exam. The first two options only apply to students who have failed an AQB USPAP test in a course presented by a provider other than the ACA: Option 1. Register for the one-hour alternative USPAP exam to be taken at an ACA scheduled USPAP offering and pay the $85 exam proctoring and administration fee (the ACA only acts as proctor). Option 2. Register to repeat the entire two day 15-hour National USPAP Course (which includes sitting for the alternative USPAP exam) at a scheduled ACA offering for the discounted fee of $225. Only those requiring the alternative exam are eligible for this reduced fee. Option 3. This option applies only to students who initially attended either the ACA's six-day complete appraisal course or the two-day USPAP-only course and subsequently failed the USPAP exam administered by Mr. Novotny. Those ACA students who do not pass the USPAP exam will be notified that they did not pass and that they should continue to study. If the student chooses to participate in this Option 3, they will be sent a "Strength and Weakness" report based upon the questions they missed on their first exam attempt. ACA will also provide ongoing counseling and support via email. When ready, the student arranges for an acceptable proctor and retest (coordinated by the ACA) in order to retake the USPAP exam. The cost for this Option 3 is $95. (If the student registers to retake the exam with ACA in lieu of a local proctor, ACA's $85 exam proctoring and administration fee will be waived.) For Options 1 & 2 above, prior to registering, the student must contact the professional society or course provider that requires the student to retake and pass the AQB USPAP test. The student must identify the contact person with whom we can coordinate the exam retake. The student must then notify us of the contact information for that person (complete address, telephone and email) and of any additional requirements of the organization. This information is a prerequisite for registration in the USPAP Exam Retake Program. Upon the student's successful completion of either of these two exam retake options, the ACA will mail the uncorrected alternative exam answer sheet along with the student tracking form to the student's societal or course provider point-of-contact. Non-ACA students (Option 1 or 2) will be notified of their exam retake results by their society or course provider. ACA students (Option 3) will be notified by us of their test retake results shortly after we receive the completed re-test from the proctor. Students should contact the ACA directly by email at info@appraisalcourseassociates.com to register for the USPAP Exam Retake Program. |
