Need to Retake the USPAP Exam?

Dear Dave,

Just a quick note to let you know that ACA now offers an opportunity for those needing to take an alternative exam for the 15-hour National USPAP Course. Note that either personal property or real property appraisers are eligible to take advantage of this program. See details below.

Baltimore USPAP Exam Retake on June 18, 2008

Where & When
Date: June 18, 2008
Time: Ramada Inn, BWI Airport
Location: Baltimore, MD
As a provider of educational courses for the personal property appraiser, we recognize the importance of appraisers successfully completing the 15-hour National USPAP Course. Doing so not only helps you maintain your level of designation within your appraisal society, but it also helps to provide you with the confidence and ability to perform appraisals in full compliance with currently recognized standards.

On occasion, however, students of the National USPAP Course are unable to pass the final course exam on their first attempt. For the convenience of such students regardless of societal affiliation, the ACA has now established a USPAP Exam Retake Program (ERP), and we welcome participation by personal property appraisers who have the need to retake the 15-hour National USPAP Course exam. The ERP is also open to real estate appraisers who have already attended a 15-hour National USPAP Course taught by an AQB Real Property Certified National USPAP Course Instructor.

Like all our USPAP Course offerings, the ERP is administered by AQB-certified National USPAP Course Instructor William M. Novotny, ISA AM, GCA in accordance with the administrative procedures established by The Appraisal Foundation's Appraiser Qualifications Board and in accordance with the student's societal requirements.

The ERP provides two options for students who require retesting with the alternative USPAP exam:

  • Option 1. Register for the one hour alternative USPAP exam and pay the $75 exam administration fee.
  • Option 2. Register for the complete 15-hour National USPAP Course (which includes sitting for the alternative USPAP exam) for the discounted fee of $225. Only those requiring the alternative exam are eligible for this reduced fee.
Prior to registering for the ERP, the student must contact the professional association requiring the student to retake and pass the AQB USPAP test in order to identify the contact person with whom we can coordinate the exam retake. The student must then notify us of the contact information for that person (complete address, telephone and email) as well as of any additional requirements of the organization.

Upon the student's successful completion of either of the above exam retake options, the ACA will mail the uncorrected alternative exam answer sheet along with the student tracking form to the student's societal point-of-contact.

Students should contact the ACA directly by email or call 301-228-2279 to register for the USPAP Exam Retake Program.

Currently, the alternative USPAP exam can be taken at the following locations:
  • Baltimore, MD, June 18, 2008
  • San Antonio, TX, August 20, 2008
  • Schaumburg, IL, October 29, 2008
