If you aspire to become an appraiser and have not
read this book, you should hang your head in shame! -
Harry Rinker
For all of you who have emailed me over the years
asking how to become an art appraiser (or an appraiser
of antiques, collectibles, jewelry, furniture,
decorative arts, and so on), I now officially have the
answer. Appraising Personal Property: Principles and
Methodology by David J. Maloney, Jr. is a complete
course book and reference guide not only for anyone who
wants to learn how to appraise personal property, but
also as a refresher course for those who already do. more -
Alan Bamberger
I have just received a copy of your book,
Appraising Personal Property: Principles and
Methodology. My congratulations on writing such an
excellent and comprehensive book which has been long
awaited in the field of personal property appraising. I
have been a certified appraiser for thirty years but
realize from the study of your book that I still have a
lot to learn. I am certain that it will become the
standard reference for personal property appraisers. -
Kevin E. Stewart
Well, I certainly didn't think I'd be including an
appraisal text on my summer reading list. I'm only
through about the first quarter, but on first blush, if
there is something that is better than first
rate, this is it. -

| About the Book |
| Appraising Personal
Property: Principles and Methodology is the
only complete, organized, practical,
up-to-date and fully-indexed course book and
reference guide to personal property appraising. This is
a complete book (including sample appraisals!) and not
merely a course outline.
At the book's
core are the ethical and report writing standards of
the widely-accepted Uniform Standards of Professional
Appraisal Practice (USPAP) as promulgated by The
Appraisal Foundation of Washington, DC.
No other book or course
of instruction provides such a thorough grounding in the
fundamentals of personal property appraising. (See the
book's Table of
Contents, Syllabus and Index.)
The course book will teach you the appraisal theory,
principles, practices and methodology associated with
preparing professional appraisal reports, and, as a
fully-indexed reference guide, this book will also allow
you to quickly and easily find the appraisal-related
information you are seeking.
Maloney's new book
is used as part of the curriculum for Appraising Personal
Property: A Core Course in Valuation Studies Featuring
USPAP, a six-day,
on-site course in personal property appraising taught by
Maloney and his partner, Certified National USPAP Course
instructor Bill Novotny, ISA
AM. "Like the book, this course is also unique,"
says Maloney. "Not only does the course cover
appraisal principles and methodology, but it also
includes the full 15-hour National USPAP Course taught
by a certified USPAP instructor," he
added. more |
